Description:
This is a seasonal
attration. |
This is a "living
history" mining museum showing how the oldtime
placer mines operated and how gold was processed in stamp mills. The
old steam powered stamp mill actually operates. In
addition there is a large collection of mining equipment from back in
the days when such mills were operated by the placer miners.
There is also a working mill that processes real
placer ore. Each summer the Wades receive seven or eight
loads of ore which yields about 1/4th ounce per ton. If you
wish to pan for gold you can buy a bucket of this ore and have at it.
